“Life is half delicious yogurt, half crap, and your job is to keep the plastic spoon in the yogurt.” ― Scott Adams
I have been seeing the Llaollao yogurt shop in Glorietta Mall in Makati for a few years now. Llaollao, from my research, is a Spanish franchise. It’s also pronounced as “yao-yao.”
I wonder how in the name of my love for frozen treats have I not tried it yet. Fortunately, the wondering has stopped.
Last May 5, I went out with my very awesome friend, Danielle, just to catch up and chill. It was on this day that I finally got to try the frozen yogurt from Llaollao after so many years of just wishing to try it.
I decided to order Sanum, which is their frozen yogurt with 3 fruits, 2 crunches and 1 sauce combo. I did not know what went over me with my choices of the stuff to put in my combo but here they were:
Fruits – mango, strawberry and banana
Crunches – Chips Ahoy and white Lacasitos (it’s like the M&Ms of Spain)
Sauce – caramel sauce
This treat costed me Php 199 which is already okay considering the amount of stuff added in.
So how was it? The yogurt base was really good. It’s not too tart but was not sweet either. That’s good considering the amount of sweetness I was getting from the caramel which by the way, was super sticky.
I loved the banana but the strawberry tasted nothing of the fruit. It tasted more like its leaves. And the mangoes? So tart! I cannot blame the store because it’s difficult predicting how fruits would taste like anyway.
The Chips Ahoy was how I expected it to be but the Lacasitos! Oh my golly! I want to buy a whole bag of those white chocolate buttons!
Overall, it was still a pretty good experience. I was actually having a heart-to-heart talk with Danielle while eating the froyo so I did not mind the occasional breaks when we had to laugh at how tart the mangoes were or how “un-strawberry” the strawberries were. Will I try it again? Yes. I would like to try it again, hopefully, with less outrageous choices for the combo.
To its credit, I like Llaollao better than The White Hat.
What is your favorite Llaollao yogurt combo?
